Victorians love getting into nature, and we want to ensure people can do so safely while managing the park estate sustainably. Lake Tyers State Park is an iconic part of Victoria and an important focal point for many visitors. With a large number of visits per year, it’s very popular for outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, boating and walking. Lake Tyers State Park sits on Krauatungalung Country about 20 kilometres from Lakes Entrance, and is one of the jointly managed parks in Gippsland: the Joint Management agreement recognises that the Gunaikurnai people hold Aboriginal Title and continue to speak for this Country. It is a popular holiday area offering low-impact bush camping, fishing in the lake and on the Ninety Mile Beach, picnic areas along the water, and bush walks and forest drives through old-growth and warm temperate rainforest.
Notices recorded here can be up to four distinct kinds, not one closure. Forest tracks - previously including Cameron’s Arm Number 2, Morass Break Track, Reedy Arm Number 1 and 2, and Happy Valley Track - can be closed after severe weather damage. Separately, the Marsdenia Rainforest Walk can be closed so that bridges and boardwalks judged unsafe can be upgraded. Separately again, Parks Victoria runs recurring ground-shooting control operations targeting deer, and separate ones targeting foxes; each current notice must be checked for its stated area, dates and effect on visitor access.
