Warrandyte State Park is part of an Aboriginal cultural landscape in the traditional Country of the Wurundjeri Peoples, and is the closest state park to Melbourne - a place for bushwalkers, canoeists, birdwatchers and families within easy reach of the city. The popular Pound Bend section has a picnic area set among the manna gums lining the Yarra River, with toilets, a canoe launching ramp and easy walking trails accessible to visitors with limited mobility, including the Pound Bend River Walk, a gentle 2.4 km, one-hour return walk upstream through riparian forest.

Deer-control works can bring night closures to a number of locations across the Middle Yarra landscape, and a notice typically names sites well beyond this park alone - Jumping Creek Reserve, Mt Lofty Reserve, Pound Bend Reserve, The Common in Warrandyte State Park, Glynns Reserve in Yarra Valley Parklands and others - so the closure is regional rather than park-wide, and which section you are visiting decides whether it affects you. Separately, a facility such as the Jumping Creek shelter can be listed as closed, which is a single-facility notice rather than an area-wide one.
