Cape Conran Coastal Park is tucked along Victoria’s far-east Wilderness Coast, with camping among banksias and manna gums, wild ocean beaches for beachcombing, and whales passing on their annual migration from May to October. Camping options range from the main Banksia Bluff campground, with toilets and bush showers, to the remote Bemm River and Pearl Point. The park supports Lace Monitors, wombats, Southern Brown Bandicoots and Long-nosed Potoroos, and the East Cape Boardwalk carries interpretive signs explaining the Aboriginal history of the Cape.
The two kinds of conditions recorded here are unrelated to each other, and one of them can end a trip. Essential works to install drinking water and wastewater systems, new septic tanks and pump stations have previously closed Banksia Bluff Campground for an extended period rather than a weekend, so a current works notice should be read as potentially spanning months rather than days. Separately, Parks Victoria periodically conducts ground-shooting control operations targeting deer; the current official notice must be checked for its stated area, dates and any effect on visitor access. A campground closure and a control program are different things, so ParkReady does not present them as one advisory.
