Churchill National Park

A small bushland national park at Lysterfield South on Melbourne's south-east fringe, sharing its visitor guide, management plan and Trig Point Lookout Trail with neighbouring Lysterfield Park, so a notice here can affect one park's facilities without affecting the other.

How to check this park

Churchill National Park is a small woodland park about 30 kilometres south-east of Melbourne at Lysterfield South, adjoining Lysterfield Park on Bunurong Country. It is a day park of walking, jogging and riding tracks rather than a camping destination, with the Churchill Picnic Area and the climb up Stonemasons Track to the Trig Point Lookout as its best-known features, and a bird list of more than 150 species. Dogs are not permitted in either Churchill National Park or Lysterfield Park, and the two parks share a single visitor guide and management plan.

That shared boundary is the practical reason to check conditions park by park. A notice here typically names one gate, one facility or one track rather than the park as a whole — for example a vehicle entrance such as the Churchill Park Drive gate being closed to cars while alternative parking is suggested outside the gate or at nearby reserves, or a toilet block being unavailable with the nearest replacements named at Lysterfield Park and Rowville. ParkReady records each notice against the park named in the official listing, so a Lysterfield Park notice will not appear here and a Churchill notice will not appear there, even where a single walk such as the Trig Point Lookout Trail crosses both.

Before setting out, check the official Parks Victoria page for the exact entrance, picnic area or track you intend to use, and check Lysterfield Park separately if your route crosses the boundary. Plan for the possibility that vehicle access and parking differ from walking access, carry water and plan toilet stops rather than assuming on-site facilities, and review VicEmergency and current fire-danger information for Melbourne’s south-east before you travel. This site’s last-check time reflects automated retrieval, not an on-site inspection, and no matching condition here does not mean every gate, track or facility in the park is open.
